Meet the Founder
Jill Settlemeyer
Founded by former pantsuit-wearing corporate professional, Jill Settlemeyer, Haven & Harlow is the culmination of legacy and heritage.
As a female in corporate America, I didn’t always feel like there was a place for strong women at the table, where their thoughts were valued, considered, and respected. So, I set my own table. In part a homage to my loving grandmother, Sylvia, Haven & Harlow continues her legacy of welcoming new perspectives and new friends to the party.
As a child, I would wake up early on Sunday mornings to help my grandmother create the most welcoming and elegant table settings. We’d select just the right linens from her private collection and carefully arrange every place setting along her expansive dining table.
Who was coming to such an elaborate Sunday dinner, you’d wonder? That was the best part: We would head to church and my grandmother Sylvia would say, “Jill, let’s look for the visitors here at church today and ask them to come home with us for lunch.”
And thus began my love of hosting - from the beautiful table to those seated around it.
The Heart Behind Haven & Harlow
Though I didn’t understand the significance of what my grandmother was teaching me at that young age, I do now: She wasn’t just inviting new faces and friends to our table.
She was ensuring that each person was treated as a guest of honor and holding space for meaningful connections. She was making people feel heard, which also made them feel loved. I can’t think of a better gift to give - and that is the heart of Haven & Harlow.
